Last weekend, October 17th and 18th, on Radio National's Top 100 Australian books ever (all books, not children’s books), Possum Magic swung in at No.11, thrilling enough on its own, but it happened to be the most popular picture book as well. I found it so hard to credit I had to point at myself in the mirror that night and say: ‘You wrote that.’ Even then it felt unreal. Julie Vivas, the genius illustrator, said she’d stopped being surprised by anything Possum Magic achieved years ago.

Where is the Green Sheep? came in at no.48. It's 20 years younger than Possum Magic but Judy Horacek is, as you know, also a genius illustrator, so it’s time will come. Marvellous that it was where it was.
I think that's the fastest update I’ve ever done. Chalk it up. The next could be a year away…
